48 Hours in Mogadishu from Nairobi: A Practical Short-Trip Plan

A short Mogadishu trip can work well for travellers already in Nairobi, but 48 hours only works if the logistics are prepared before departure.

Before leaving Nairobi

Confirm your flight, Somalia eTA, hotel and Mogadishu airport pickup. Kenya Airways currently maintains a Nairobi–Mogadishu booking route, though availability varies by date.

Day 1: Arrival and city orientation

After airport formalities, transfer to the hotel and keep the first part of the day flexible. A city orientation can introduce Mogadishu’s coastal setting, important streets, heritage context and local food without trying to cover every attraction.

Day 2: Culture, coast and local life

Use the full day for a better-paced programme: heritage stops, local neighbourhood context, a market or food experience, and time near the coast where the operating plan allows.

Day 3: Departure

If your outbound flight is later in the day, keep the morning close to the hotel or airport plan. Do not schedule a distant activity that risks the international departure.

Which package fits?

Our Mogadishu Stopover is designed around a two-day/one-night starting structure, while Mogadishu Signature allows more time when the flight schedule permits.
