Aden Adde International Airport (MGQ) is the main international gateway to Mogadishu. For most visitors, a smooth arrival starts before the aircraft lands: entry approval, flight details, hotel and pickup should already be coordinated.
Before boarding
Somalia’s Civil Aviation Authority states that foreign-passport travellers should obtain a valid Electronic Travel Authorisation in advance. The eTA system has applied since September 2025.
Airlines and regional gateways
Current scheduled airline access connects Mogadishu with important hubs including Addis Ababa, Istanbul, Nairobi and Muscat, alongside other regional services. Schedules change, so use the operating airline’s own website for the final timetable.
Arrival planning
Have your passport and eTA documentation ready and keep your local contact’s phone number accessible. Allow time for immigration, baggage and airport procedures before scheduling the first tour activity.
Hotels near the airport
Several Mogadishu hotels market themselves around airport access, including properties inside or close to the airport security zone. Availability and access arrangements should be confirmed directly for your travel dates.
Transfers
For our guests, airport transfer planning starts with the exact flight number and arrival time. The driver/host should be coordinated before the traveller departs their origin country.
