Updated September 2026. Travellers based in Europe now have several practical ways to reach Mogadishu. The best itinerary depends on your departure city, connection time, baggage arrangements and the dates of your Somalia programme.
Istanbul remains an important Europe–Mogadishu gateway
Turkish Airlines is currently selling Istanbul–Mogadishu itineraries. Its live route pages also show bookable Mogadishu journeys from European cities including London, Stockholm, Helsinki, Dublin and Brussels through the Turkish Airlines network.
For example, the airline’s London–Mogadishu page was displaying round-trip economy fares from about GBP 811 for selected 2026 dates when this guide was updated. Stockholm, Helsinki, Dublin and Brussels pages also showed bookable 2026 fares. These are dynamic prices, not fixed Tour in Somalia rates.
Muscat is the newest direct gateway
SalamAir launched the first nonstop Muscat–Mogadishu route on 3 September 2026. The twice-weekly service gives travellers another option if they can connect conveniently into Oman from their origin.
SalamAir is also expanding its European network
On 8 September 2026 SalamAir announced Copenhagen as another new destination, with service scheduled to start on 14 November 2026 via Baghdad. This expands the airline’s wider network, but it is not a nonstop Copenhagen–Mogadishu service. Travellers considering a Copenhagen–Muscat–Mogadishu itinerary should confirm through-ticket availability, connection times and operating days directly with SalamAir before purchase.
Addis Ababa is another major connection point
Ethiopian Airlines maintains dedicated Addis Ababa–Mogadishu and Mogadishu–Addis Ababa booking pages. For travellers connecting through Ethiopian Airlines’ wider network, Addis can be a practical gateway into MGQ.

Foreign visitors should check the official Somalia immigration/eTA requirements before travel. Do not rely on old screenshots or travel forum comments because entry procedures can change.
